IT Compliance Officer

An IT Compliance Officer ensures that an organization's technology and information systems adhere to regulatory standards, legal requirements, and internal data security and privacy policies. 

They play a critical role in safeguarding sensitive information, managing risks, and maintaining trust with clients and stakeholders by ensuring that all IT practices align with relevant laws and regulations.

IT Compliance Officers perform various tasks, including developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting audits to assess adherence to regulations, and providing training to staff on compliance-related topics. 

They also monitor changes in laws and regulations to update policies accordingly, work with other departments to ensure compliance across the organization, and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies to demonstrate compliance status.

• Developing, implementing, and maintaining IT compliance policies and procedures
• Conducting regular audits to identify areas of non-compliance and implementing corrective actions
• Collaborating with IT teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into system designs
• Keeping abreast of industry regulations and best practices to proactively address compliance issues
• Overseeing compliance training programs for employees to increase awareness and understanding
• Responding to compliance-related inquiries and issues from internal and external stakeholders
• Monitoring and reporting on compliance metrics and key performance indicators
• Leading compliance assessments and risk assessments
• Updating and maintaining documentation related to IT compliance activities

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or similar certification preferred
• 3+ years of experience in IT compliance or a related field
• Strong knowledge of industry regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOX
• Experience with compliance management software and tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Proven track record of implementing successful compliance programs
• Familiarity with risk management principles
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
